Vampire’s Kiss

Why I Saw This Movie
My friend the Cinephile invited me over to watch this movie, and my philosophy is that if anyone takes the trouble to invite me over for a movie, I’ll watch anything (—a policy I’m now beginning to rethink, by the way, because this movie represents 2 hours of my life I’ll never get back.)
As for the Cinephile, he wanted to watch this movie because it had achieved a kind of cult status on the Internet as the most bizarre Nicholas Cage film ever made.

The Review
So, if a film has a reputation for being terrible, and you watch it anyway, I suppose you can’t really be too hard on it for living up to its reputation.
The film’s a bizarre black comedy that largely relies on Nicholas Cage’s ability to overact in every scene.  And to the film’s credit, Nicholas Cage delivers on this perfectly. So the film achieves what it set out to achieve.
I can’t hate it entirely—there are moments of brilliance in the film—but it overstays its welcome by going on too long.

Rating :
2 out of 10 Stars (Although granted these movies that boarder on the so-bad-that-they’re-good territory are hard to stick an objective rating on.)
